beat that drum – vocal arrangement
Beat that Drum is an original composition and SATB arrangement by Lauren Kinhan. This is a feel good, uplifting song about growing up and through those experiences you come to better understand, perhaps, your parents, grandparents, teachers, etc. It’s original function was to be taught orally, in the gospel tradition, so the sections get right to tone, inflection, dynamics and memorization of the lyrics, but it could certainly be taught the other way. It is easy, intuitive writing, appropriate for all levels. Don’t let easy deter you, though, watch the video and see how fun this piece is for all ages. Click here to read more.
chasing the sun – vocal arrangement
Chasing the Sun is an original composition and SATB arrangement by Lauren Kinhan. It is a wordless samba with challenging lines that weave together a larger musical story. Melodies get shifted around the ensemble so section’s roles are reversed and they get to learn what it’s like to function as the bass vs. the melody and vice versa. It is deceptively difficult, so I recommend advanced high school and college as a starting point. Click here to read more.
there alone go i – vocal arrangement
There Alone Go I is an original composition and SATB arrangement by Lauren Kinhan and Peter Eldridge. The song is rooted in the singer/songwriter genre with a more modern treatment to the vocal arranging. It’s a spiritual piece in nature, which shifts organically into a soaring chorus. This is a mature, yet feel good piece appropriate for all levels. Click here to read more.
